This story belongs to the Ganalbingu tribe whose important totems include the rainbow snake, magpie goose and long neck turtle. It is about a place called Djirringi. Three tortises set out to travel to the sacred dancing ground at Djirringi. One got stuck in the swamp and could not continue. The other two travelled on over the land towards the sacred dancing ground and the waterhole passing the female tortise along the way. During the dry season, when the white cockatoo appears, the tracks of the turtle can be observed heading towards Djirringi. This is a Yirritja ceremony which belongs to, and is shared by three tribes - Bami/Balmawuy people, the Ganalbingu people and the Gupapuyngu people. Their country is the land around Yathlamarra, Dilpirri and the swamp area.
