Warlukurlangu Artist of Yuendumu, N.T.Story
The women came from the west, from a place called Yarungkanyi, on Mount Doreen station. When they reached Yurrkuru country, they travelled from west to east, starting from the site of Jilkala, and visiting various places on their way to Yalankirri, east of the Stuart Highway. One of the places they visited was Yurrkuru. They did not keep to a single track, but spread out over the country. As they travelled, the women danced. The dance they performed is associated with the initiation of young men. The women dreaming is of particular importance in the men's initiation cycle. The dancing women belonged to the Nakamarra and Napurrula subsections.
