Art Leven (formerly Cooee Art) was established in 1981 and runs a hybrid art model to represent and support artists in an ethical and sustainable way. During the last decade under the guidance of Director Mirri Leven, Art Leven has undergone a continuous evolution in every facet of the business.
Today, as Australia’s oldest exhibiting Indigenous-focused fine art gallery, Art Leven (formerly Cooee Art) is run as a space of collaboration, working directly with First Nations curators, art centres, and represented artists. With more than 3000 works of art by over 150 individual artists, the Art Leven extensive stockroom encompasses a wide range of regional and individual styles.
Art Leven (formerly Cooee Art) is the ideal venue for hosting corporate and private functions. Our expansive 480m2 gallery is in the heart of Aboriginal Sydney, Redfern.
Art Leven (formerly Cooee Art) offers regular talks with artists, guest curators and conducts regular lectures in the gallery or in venues throughout the world.
