STORY
This is the essay that accompanied this work in 'Mulkuṉ Wirrpanda-the Last Exhibition' held at Aboriginal and Pacific Art Gallery in April 2021.
As described in this essay her last phase was a series of works of organic white paintings referencing shellfish and mangroves completed at a time when she was physically weakened from illness but still cheerful and loving her painting. The particular creature in this work is Yarranu which she described as a larger version of Warrapal- the Variegated Venus Clam Tapes dorsatus. Typically this knowledge is not included in the definitive text on this subject Maypal by Bentley James.
